WW2 Stretchers

I've heard about these "stretcher fences" before and I'd got the idea that some came from the 6 very deep level shelters that were built adjacent but deeper to London tube stations. These deep level shelters were built in the same manner as a deep level tube train tunnels and were intended to be incorporated into the London tube network post WW2. The idea was to bypass certain stations with "express/fast" tube trains while another train could be held in the station. The idea was never taken up post WW2 but the 6 deep level shelters remain to this day, as far as I know. Ironically, I don't believe that the shelters even saw much use, if any, as air raid shelters during WW2.
