I remember taking a Type 38 carbine (mum intact) from a 12 year old that was walking down the street banging the muzzle on the side walk as he was walking. He said he found it sticking out a garage can. It was missing the bolt plug (safety), firing pin and firing pin spring. I got the parts and recrowned the muzzle and it shot rather well. At the time the ammo cost more than the carbine was worth. Later rebarrel the carbine to .308 Winchester and sold it. I remember that it kicked like a mule in .308 Winchester.
