The answer to your question is not a three or four sentence answer. It would be several paragraphs long to go into detail of different lengths and characteristics to differentiate each manufacturers pods within the series.
I suggest you get a copy of "Military Rifles of Japan" by Fred Honeycutt for some basic info and visit the Japanese Board over on GunBoards with a search of mono-pods might be helpful.
