What unit was your grandfather in?
My grandfather was 44th Field Artillery Battalion, attached to the 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, 3rd Army at the time of the Hurtgen Forest Battle.

He was a June 6, 1944 Utah Beach veteran and participated in 5 major campaigns, and the only major damage done was frost bite on the move to relieve the 101st Airborne at Bastonge.
