You are right in that this mount is much more robust designed. As mentioned in the starting post, already the thumb screws are of a different size with a larger threading to the bases. This also applies to the screws used to mount the bases to the receiver - they are of much larger size than the ones on the No. 4 T (plus the screw heads on the front base are cheese head and not countersunk!).

And also note that the rear base is additionally held in place by the rear sight protectors which had been cut out in that the base can't move forward or rearward. This is something you won't find with the No. 4 T.

Therefore they might had considered this way of fixing the bases to the receiver more than sufficient.
