My daughter went with me to the WWII Weekend at Reading today which was a gift in itself to me. She'll be getting married next year so days like this will become infrequent at best. We had a great time wandering around even though the weather was rather iffy all day.
We had walked through the main building early in the day but missed this one table with very nice wooden plaques. Second time through we both noticed them at the same time and I was attracted to the Normandy plaque right away. Engraved wood with detailed map of the Normandy area along with five glass vials filled with sand from each of the landing beaches. Price was a bit ridiculous however so I just jokingly pointed at a little handmade sign that said "Don't forget Father's Day" and we went on our way.
The kid spent the next half hour researching them and figuring out that if she waited, there would be an additional shipping charge. So we went back and one came home with us. Great kid.
