This is a rather unremarkable 1954 Chinese Type 53. I would have passed on it except for the two Chinese characters on the butt. Anyone out there who might know what this translates to?
Found out that the word in Chinese is simply "Repair" which is also unremarkable... She said that it is possible that it could mean that the rifle needs repair. Perhaps when it failed, they marked it as such.
Sorry I could not be of more help.
