I had a brand new K98with an Argentine
crest I think...back in about 1979. The whole thing had come in a huge shipment with cleaning kits and bayonets...and the bayonet was un-sharpened. Certain bayonets are issued sharp and he rest are left dull until wartime. Then the first few inches need edge while the rest doesn't matter. The 1907 was a classic, had an edge done by the armorers for the first few inches so too much metal wasn't removed by the troops. I don't think this one is different.
