Irwin Pedersen and Rock Ola M2 Carbines

The title might raise higher expectations than what in fact I can show. These are not complete rifles but "just" receivers. Both were restamped to M2 and therefore once must had been M2 Carbines. I back then originally bought them for the makers and considered the fact that they were restamped to M2 an interesting detail atop. In fact I might even build up two M2 Carbines based on them since this would allow me to use any parts I have at hand for the build and not painfully trying to find the correct parts.

Has anyone ever seen the serial of an IP (or any other manufacturer) re-applied in front of the rear sight? I guess this might had been a result of the rear sight partically covering the serial, or what would be the reason for this? And which barrel manufacturer should I keep my eyes open to find to make either of them at least correct matching for the receiver/barrel combination? Same applies to the bolt, are there specific numbers/codes that I need to keep my eyes open for?
