Hi all,
I've only just become aware of an extremely worthy project that's just got underway down the road from me at the former RAF Kemble site.
The Phantom group have managed to acquire all three variants of the amazing Phantom that served the RAF, namely the F4K, F4M and F4J.
This is all the more impressive as the the UKPhantom fleet was sacrificed as our contribution to the Conventional Arms Reduction Treaty.
This meant that aircraft had to be guillotined and left for SovietSatellites to varify destruction....
For this reason, very few were spared the scrap man....
They have a hell of a task in front of them, to construct a building and restore three Phantoms as a heritage centre.
I will hopefully be pitching in as work and time allows to do my bit.
Anyway, a worthy cause guys, for an overlooked UK Cold War Warrior!
