I like the look of the 1907 pattern sling. "Old school" stuff. But the three Garand's I have are all post WWII manufacture during the Korean War. So recently I ordered three slings from Turner Saddlery but due to the insanity of modern times will be waiting awhile.

So I decided to put an M1icon web sling on them as they are "period correct" regardless of personal taste. I'd an older sling that had been laying about for a few decades, and a new one from "I can't recall." After installing those two slings I realized they were entirely different lengths. The heck you say. One (the buckle end cinched up close and the older one) measured 43 inches. The "new one" from "I don't recall" measured 63 inches. The heck you say.

So I went to the shop and pulled out two new in the wrapper CMPicon slings. They measured 46 inches. So in the meantime my Garand's will sport CMP slings (I've two more) until I decide different.

However after spending a bit on the internet I could find nothing that states the length they are supposed to be. I've Canfield's book, Clint McKee's, and Duff's. Zip, not a word. So can anyone specifically state the original and correct length as I can't seem to find it.
