Working on what could be best described as a resto-mod 2a1, starting from a barreled action. I didn't catch this cut rear sight until after I had invested the cash in the rest of the work. It looks deliberately and unprofessionally cut, for an unknown reason. It may have been done to fix a shooting low problem, but would mess up the rest of the range settings on the leaf.
How difficult are rear sight bases to replace? It sounds like you hammer the pins out, hammer both sights off, and then the same in reverse. Are rear sight bases generally individually reamed, or will any rear sight fit fairly easily?
I already have a replacement on order.
