Cattaraugus 225Q Quartermaster knife

Just bought this on eBay. Got my usual eBay gift certificate for Christmas from my daughter and couldn't hang on to it for long.

Can't say I've ever seen on in person before, they say these are rather heavy knives in comparison to the Kabar. Supposedly more of a work knife than a combat knife, issued to quartermasters during WWII.

eBay had about 20 onsite and nearly all are in poor shape, so they were definitely used. This is one of the few that the blade didn't have a grinder applied to it.

They were produced in the white, so I'll have some cleaning to do. Looks like some rust on the pommel. The handles were originally smooth, too smooth so the troops cut the grooves into them which is probably what is seen on this one.
