    early cleaning kit

I checked the cleaning kit in my early Springfield 1903, it was in the rifle butt when I bought it years ago. here is a photo of the serial number and cleaning kit, note the early brush.

My question, is this the first type of cleaning kit on the 1903 rifles ?
