Just to add context to you rifle, at one time, it was provided to the Greek government/military. This is indicated by the hot blue finish noted in your pre refinished pictures. Additional, the stock was made by Harringto and Richardson (HRA). The rounded profile of the pistol grip, horseshoe shaped area under the receiver, and 3/8 inch defense acceptance stamp (DAS) are indicators of manufacture origin.
The Hellenic goverment received a large number of HRA's. The stock likely came to be on your rifle during the extensive Greek M1 rebuild program.
