    "On Borrowed Time"

    By Leonard Mosley.

This book covers the last years before the beginning of WW2.

To say that Neville Chamberlain comes off poorlry is an undstatement! He is lambasted for underestimating Hitler, for controlling the foreign policy to the extent that the Foreign Secretary, Eden, quit when he was circumvented.

Actually most of the people in the book are shown to be unable to come to gripps with the facts of the situation at the time, the french leaders most of all, however, the english attitude was so important to them, it was the english policy that was of overriding importance.

Published in 1969, this is one of those books that should be read to come to a fuller understanding of the times.
