1932 made SRS Documented M1903A1 National Match rifle, Drilled/Tapped for Recvr sight

    Knowledgeable 1903 Friends.....Esp John Beardicon,

I have an M1903A1NM rifle that is SRS documented. It has all the NM features.

One thing is does have are Drilled/Tapped and screw plugged receiver sight mount holes
on the right side. The finish on the screw heads is the same as the receiver and they appear to have never been removed.

In placing the rifle up for sale, it has been suggested that I would receive some kind of "friction" as to the authenticity of these holes. I wish to ask ALL of you for your input and
    reference documents regarding this feature.

I have the E. C. Crossman book, The Book of the Springfield (1932),which mentions that these mounting holes were from the armory on DCM Sales rifles.

In the Harrison Book, The Collectible'03, he writes that the mounting holes were offered, but not the sights, nor was the stock wood altered for the sight. It is said that this reference is not that accurate.

I do not have access to my Brophy Book, to see if he mentions it.

One person has questioned the 1st line documentation that both authors have used in their descriptions......not so much questioning it,but wanting to know the direct source.

Are there any direct armory source material for making the receivers with these sight mount holes? Can any one provide them?

Am sure there will be those who will say that they just know...with no documentation either way, that the screws are not authentic and thus my priceis too high.

    Thank you for your responses.
