I just took a real hard look in-side the metal and the bore and chamber are spotless and there are three plugs in it, one towards the front and two towards the rear, very close together. I can't understand why would they decommission a rifle with what appears to be very low mileage? I won't get a chance to shoot it for awhile (once again, back problems), but, I can't wait to see how it does. Another dumb question, would the standards sights be set for shooting with a bayo, being as how it appears to be an X sniper?
The sights were PROBABLY regulated with the bayonet fixed, but that can be remedied with a taller front post, if need be. Many of the later-war sniper rifles were de-commissioned after having never been issued. I suspect this happened in the 1970's after the Dragunov became standard issue.
