Exclamation If these old wood and metal warriors could talk!

We have spent some time of late speaking of the great generation(s) that carried these M1icon Carbines in various conflicts. Some on the board carried them in war, and some of us carried them in Law Enforcement. Stories have been related and passed on.

Today was a lousy day outside, and the yard work was killing my repaired shoulder, so I decided to take the rest of the day off. I got out "Band of Brothers" and started watching it again for the first time in a long time. During a break between DVDs, I went into the bedroom to get something and noticed the Inland (which is out waiting for another coat of BLOicon on the stock) standing in the corner by the safe. I picked up the old warrior with new appreciation. I worked the action with its flat bolt an early slide, looked at the cartouches on the stock, felt the stock pouch material, and finally slung it over my shoulder. If the parts of this weapon could speak of where they have been and the things they have seen, it would be worthy of an epic such as Band of Brothers. For some reason, their importance and their story really impacted me tonight.
