inland carbine

I just recieved my new (to me) inland carbine from the CMP. Rack grade, 6digit serial number.

I'm a garand guy and don't know alot about carbines. The stock is rather beat up with FAJ cartouche on the right side. Someone also drilled two holes in the left side of the stock. I'm either going to try and refinish this one (as it looks very dry/drift wood in appearence) or sell it and get a DGR stock. Are these stocks common with this cartouche?

When was the inland made? I'm assuming it's an earily one due to the serial number 222xxx.

I'll have to order one of the war baby books but just wondering when the rifle was made. Overall, this is the most beat up rifle I have recieved from the CMP to date. I'm not going to complain though.

Are you sure that desn't say FAT? That is an Italian return stock if it does. The two holes were for the grenade launcher sights.

The cartouche is NFM over FJA. The FJA is very clear, the NFM isn't and I believe that is the letters it says.

Why shouldn't I take down the trigger housing or bolt? This isn't my first carbine. I actually sold a universal and used the proceeds to get the inland. I kind of wanted a USGI one. Carbines don't excite me like the garands do (i have 6 garands) so one carbine will do.

I'll have to try stripping the stock and applying BLO to it. Just don't have time until next week cause of work.

No problem. Just wondering if there was something I wasn't aware of. Anyone have any idea when this carbine was made? I couldn't find any markings on the barrel to indicate when the barrel was made.

1st production run; upto 999,999. May,42-Sept,43. Someone with better info will be able to narrow it down for you.
