I agree that AIrsoft are a great way to get the younger generation into firearms. It is helping counteract the older generation of gun fearers (still younger than us).

When I was a kid in the 50s and 60s, I was a gun nut. After I shot my Postal Inspector cousin's DCM M1icon carbine in the early 60s, I was hooked for sure. Once I started working at 14 or 15, I bought those Japaneseicon metal working replica pistols by Nakata. They were the Airsoft of the 60s.

I had a Browning High Power (with detachable shoulder stock), P38, and S&W 19 with a 2 1/2" barrel. They had brass bullets with hollow noses that you put caps in. The hammer drove the cartridge forward to set of the cap, then you worked the action by hand. I had those until about 10 years ago when a box was "lost" during a move.

Geeze, now I sound like George Burns. Don't want to emulate him, he's dead.

Look at it this way Mike, you have your whole life ahead of you. Most of us are on the downhill side.

Totally different system with not even a similarity to a real gun (as far as the inner workings). I'd be surprised if a single part could be used on a real carbine.

Here's a link to a web page that has a video showing the instructions for loading and firing of one of these. (Pretty neat)
As Inland said, it is nothing like a real M2 inside, but it looks real from the outside.
