I'm updating my will next week so if I come across the receipt in my papers I'll let you know from whom I bought it.

The "gentleman" was probably Roger Payneicon. Rumor has it he has another batch ready. His mounts are first rate and the very best new made ones available.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. I still have some brackets available.....not at Chinese-made prices I'm afraid, but they are entirely UKicon produced from the castings through to the final finishing. I've been getting them done now for 20 years (rather longer than the opposition) so the gent above might well have bought one from me...

I think I have three or four of Roger's brackets. I'm not discounting this mans product and am impressed he has gone to the effort. I hope it plays out well for everyone but I will stick with what I know works for now.

You are a wise man MJ1. These are the only brackets purchased by and used as replacements by the MoD during the last L42 refurbishment programmes carried out in the 80's, prior to putting quantities of L42's into mobilization stores.

But we always painted the front ray shade of our telescopes MJ

You will have to point that out to DRP some time. He was the artist on this job, LOL.
