A shot in the Dark

I know this is a shot in the dark, hence the title, but I have a WB inspected colt frame SN 843815 with a slide numbered 843762. Close but no cigar. Anyone have an appropiately numbered frame or slide they would like to trade so I can match one of these 2 up?

No help, but I have frame1099855 and slide 905558. Enough shots in the dark and maybe something may be hit.

Probably best to leave it alone, as most mis-matches were done by USGI armorers during mass cleaning.... in fact the close ones were probably done when the new A1s were first recieved as Ordnance cleaned new pistols fresh from shipment prior to stocking.

Doing something is probably not an option since as you say, it is a needle in a hastack. I bought this from a highly regarded reputable dealer who thougt it was a round the campfire cleaning session swap and the halfs do look like they have been together for a long time and never through an arsenal rebuild.

I wouldn't worry about it.They have been together since their first gang cleaning.Even if you found the original slide or frame I guarantee they won't match. Bob
