The really nice thing about your repair is that it looks like something a period armorer might have done to salvage an otherwise usable stock. The piece looks believable as an authentic repair.
The Brits did really nice repairs on their ordnance, so one that have pins and bits of wood set into the wood looks like something their armorers might have done. You see the same quality of work on Egyptian and on some Indian work. The Indonesian Jungle Carbines were repaired very nicely in many of the ones I have seen. I have an FN rifle in 8mm with a heel repair that just says "I was trained by the Britishbefore they left Egypt!" and is as solid as the day it was repaired.
Excellent work to bring back the old warhorse.
