IHC Rifle - Is Stock IHC ?
I've never been able to decide if the butt stock on my IHC Garand
is IHC or H&R.
The top recess on the butt stock has no numbers, although I believe some early IHC stocks had no numbers.
The acceptance stamp is 3/8".
The bottom trigger group locking area has a v shaped rear recess.
I've never been able to discern between an IHC and H&R profile.
The barrel is "LMR 53".
All parts are IHC except the trigger group which I changed for shooting preference (I kept the IHC group).

Is there a "P" proof mark on the pistol grip face? Your stock isn't IHC for sure.

There is a circled "P" proof mark on the pistol grip face.
What is your reasoning for it not being IHC ?
Is it H&R ?

1. No indented contour right side top edge alongside of receiver heel.
2. No numbers in the barrel channel.
3. Never saw any IHC with small DAS stamp.
That's pretty conclusive. Looks like HRA but no clear photo of bottom of pistol grip or of proof "P" mark to make a distinction.

My vote with that back porch a HRA

I edited what I said as I now think what looks like a Partial v-notch trigger housing lock up area is damaged making it look like this. I vote HRA also. Rick B

Although I too now believe the stock is HRA, the trigger housing lock up area is not damaged and is in fact more "V" shaped than the picture shows.

Can you show us a close-up of the buttplate? Thank you,
