Cafdfw nailed it on the head from the get-go. An original sling will add $100 bucks. Given the mix of parts, I agree with the others on value, $700 tops. If the guy wants $950, chances are you are wasting your time. If you really want an 03a3, keep researching so you'll recognize a deal, then offer them less without insulting them. It doesn't hurt to ask!

Hylander,
Your seller's photos are very poor, so it may be difficult, but there are a few areas he should be able to send photos of without disassembling anything.
Since he's selling it over the internet, he should send you photos that are quality enough to at least see basic parts.
For starters, see if you can get a clear detailed photo of:
The barrel marking just to the rear of the front site
The stock markings where you said it has an 'RA' mark
The front area of the bottom of the floor plate assembly where the front screw is, along with the sub inspection marks on the stock that should be just to the front of the floor plate assembly
The barrel band spring inletting on the right side of the stock
The marking on the top of the bolt handle
Remove the bolt and take clear photos
The bottom of the buttplate
Any markings he can see on the metal
As others have told you, Vi Sjhooter has a very, very good site and toward the bottom if it he has an easy to follow section of some SC traits that should help you as well.

As I said at the beginning, from the limited info he's supplied the rifle sounds like it at very least may have a Remington stock (RA) or as Rick said, a rebuilt stock (RA-P) both strongly suggesting it's been rebuilt at some point.
There is nothing at all wrong with a rebuilt 03A3 for a shooter. The problem is a basic rebuilt 03A3 Remington in good condition is worth about $600 and a rebuilt SC is worth just a little more. There are other basic factors to consider, such as condition of the bore etc, but at this point I can only point out some features of a correct SC.

Ask the seller to retake the pictures with the macro setting on (flower symbol) to get the close ups clearer so you can actually identify things.
It's buyer's market. I paid close to that for a 03a3 Rem in a USGI C stock. I definitely got buyer's remorse. My 2 cents.

The stock is Remington, the safety housing is Remington, and the front band is parkerized. NOT original finish or correct SC. $600 plus sling price if the sling truly is original and not a modern version. Pass, study, wait for the right one.
