Noob needs help

Of striker tools.. Of the thousands of 1's 4's and 5's that I have ever stripped, I have never had a broken tool (if you'll excuse the pun.....) while using the isssued tool. They were TOUGH as opposed to hard.

If it seems of feels like it's going to be a struggle, just heat up the cocking piece to hot heat (not red heat!) and try again

Those pins should come out pretty easily. Note that each one has a very small flat ground at either end. When reassembled the flats should face each other so that the band can hold them in place.

Wow they did come out nice and easy! Got the fore-end and stock in dishwasher. I'll post some pics when she comes out!

No I got to make a list of missing parts and work on getting an order in. Just dying to clean the barell and take a peak cause she looked pretty damn good when it was dirty. Rifling looks very nice.

The guy I got this off of had several that were sporterized by his grandfather. He must not have got around to doing this one before his passing. I figure he bought several that would make good shooters. Fingers crossed.

The military specification tools won't break. I've never broken one either and have done hundreds. The crap FP removal tools from Brownells, Sarco and GPC will break. You get what you pay for.

CM, Before you reassemble, there are two screws that look alike, but can't (usually) be interchanged. They are the small screws that hold the front sight protector and the rear trigger guard screw. The rear trigger guard screw is slightly longer. If the front sight protector's screw is used, it will strip the action body, if lucky that can be fixed by threading in from the opposite side to chase the threads.

As I mentioned I am missing several parts, screws, and springs. One of them is the foresight protector screw. So for now I cannot get them interchanged . Eventually I know I will be posting here for help with the missing parts I need. I have started a list.

Hey the stock and fore-end stock are out of the dishwasher. There are some nice cartouche or markings on the wood. I do not want to sand it. I will put it down in the basement to dry slowly. Eventually I will have to decide how to finish it. I am also missing the front and rear handguards. Will probably order used walnut and try to match the finish to what I got.

Got 2 nice little crack to fix ~ I think I will use Gorilla wood glue then clamp with some surgical tubing

The magazine looks as if it is from a SMLE.

It could be one of the BSA conversions from 1942-43 where the No1 (SMLE)mags were converted to suit the No4 Lee Enfield Rifle.

Don't bother gorilla glueing that split butt down the heel butt plate screw as it'll just open up again. Patch the butt as per the photos regularly shown here. Can anyone pull up a photo of a suitably Armourer patched butt to illustrate to Chunky
