People tend to expect markings to be exactly alike and in the exact same spot. They tend to forget how fast we were throwing our war materiel together and shipping it. Some barrels never got dated. Some parts were stamped funny. Some carbines had parts by the 'wrong' sub-contractors. Some carbines had parts that didn't 'come out' until months later and others had 'old' parts after the new ones had been standardized. You'll drive yourself bananas trying to rationalize 'why' or prove it to be 'correct' or not. Most every carbine has little anomalies like that.Information
