4 Blade camillus
Am I missing something here? I collect the years I was Viet Nam, and they vary from $30-$50 in mint condition.
But to me, even with the U.S.
N. this is a $25-$30 knife. This seller seem to get prices higher then any I see. What gives?

Agreed
Ive been watching his M3's and notice the same thing. He has 2 things going for him. Reputation-People feel safe buying from him and therefore they will pay more. He puts up good pics and gives a real good description. If I buy a knife from him and put it right back on ebay, guaranteed I dont get nearly what he gets.

not to throw water on the parade but that one is marked 1995 - were you in VN at that date ?
no flame intended here , there are those that seem to sell with less than credible info ,
i had one of these my FIL gave me , it was a very nice quality product

A square,
I said I collect my Viet Nam years, which spanned cross over tours in the years 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971.
I also said "This seller seems to get prices higher then any I see."
Then posted a listing from the seller I question who gets such high prices for his items. I put it in the post for others to see what I was questioning.
To me $51 for a 1995 knife is nuts.
I guess I wasn't being clear enough.
I have had people tell me that Viet Nam is a nice place to vacation now. They must be nuts, I will never go back there.
Here is a picture of a few of my 4 blades.

as stated - no flame intended - often the tone of the post is interpreted by text when that intended was far different , this is one of those cases ,
i did catch that you were collecting that era , my FILs knife was such an item , the last years would have been mine there , thank you for your service ,
that said i also caught your implication on the price and equally curious about why that could command it , does he really get that for those ? incredible ,
lastly , that is a superb collection you have , i noted the same on your other post , very impressive , and thank you for sharing them , sorry if i came off wrong - those that know me know i would not do so ,

I'm new to this forum, but I've been collecting knives (including MIL-K 818's) for a long time, and although this is an old thread, here's my 2 cents: All of the USN,USAF and USMC MIL-Ks made by Camillus were non-issue, commercial offerings. This would seem to bring the price down to knowledgeable military collectors. On the other hand, those made were in comparatively small numbers, making them much rarer in numbers than any US marked ones. How this affects the market one way or the other probably changes constantly, possibly based largely on lack of information and basic desire. Just food for thought...

Non-Issue Camillus MIL-Ks?

I'm also trying to collect one knife for each year I was in Vietnam/Thailand/Laos (71,72,73). Not sure we're talking about the same knives here, but IIRC, what I want are the stainless steel Camillus 4-blades with U.S. stamped on one side. These were issue knives, one packed inside every seat-back parachute. When I went through combat aircrew survival school and we parted out surplus chutes for field survival items, the 4-blade knives were always highly sought after, since you could keep one if you found it. I have several but not the right years, ...yet.

Yes, we're talking about the same knife...please read what I wrote. I said that all knives marked USN, USAF, and USMC were not issue and were commercial offerings only. That statement is correct. Issue knives were marked US only, with the exception of some that were marked US MARINE CORPS, which were only made during WW2 by Kingston and had carbon steel blades and springs with brass liners.

Thanks for the clarification.

BTW: Still looking for a US stamped '72 and '73.
For some reason they seem to be tough years to find. As much as I hate to say it, check ebay as often as possible if you have no luck elsewhere. Sooner or later they'll pass through there. I'm trying to find the Canadian
version that Camillus made, the C-5. Exact same knives, just no US on the handle scales.
