Nice to know there's people like you out there. Congrats on being you.

If possible could you find out the unit and whether the vet deployed with the unit or was a replacement? I try to keep info of this sort on as-issued carbines to get a feel for the supply situation. It's a very inexact science to be sure, but best to gather data when available and sort it out later. Thanx.

This winter I've refinished roughly 18 to 20 stock sets and reparked some carbines, along with loose parts for a gun club 2 counties over.
In place of payment I ask that they donate a appropriate fee to the Wounded Warrior Project.
It's a win-win. Everyone walks away with a warm feeling.

I think the Carbine Club may appreciate a Data Sheet on that one. Mike.

    Stampings on the inside

So, I opened up the carbine and stamped inside the stock (both parts- main and handgrip) are the letters H1B. I found the letter 'H' stamped in a couple places on the main steel parts, but nothing else.....

I suppose if I completely broke it down and did a full field strip and clean, would I find something else somewhere hidden?

A lotta crud inside. I think I should do a clean and oil. Is that an OK thing to do on this old baby?
