Rusty, I think it is a cut down, but at the same time I would hang on to it also. Sooner or later you will get a definitive answer on what it is. If it is cut down somebody did a nice job and reparked it.....Frank

I'm going to go out on a limb fellas. I don't think it has been cut down. If I am seeing right it looks like there is the slightest of overhang on the band itself in relation to the barrel ring. I thyink it is real.

Bill, even under 150% magnification I'm not seeing a overhang. I think you would have to have it in hand like Jim said.
Rusty, I saw two on e-bay and one was looks cut, you could see the saw marks. The one with the buy it now for $200.00, I think is real. You can see the set back. The one with the reseve is suspect to me.....Frank

Frank, the reason I think it is real is the way it is made at the band to ring joint. I have one that is a known real type II band. I just think it may be real.

And yes, without it in hand I can not say for sure.

To close to call for me.. hang onto it. I may have a swivel if you want it.
    I would be interested.

I'm looking at War Baby and on page 464 it says
Band, Front assembly, type B (modified, with wire sling swival).
    Markings/Identification:unmarked.
Quantity.SN Range: used on late production.

My serial number I believe would fall into the late production run.

    So I don't know, but I'm keeping.
