FTR by BSA for a foreign contract. Believed to be for the middle east. Have seen a few 303s, but that is the first 22 of that contract I have seen.

That cypher looks like the SSA crown.
If so, your receiver was made by SSA originally before being converted. Take a look at the rear left side of the bolt raceway(where you insert the bolt into the receiver) and see if it has SSA staped there.

Good info guys. I am primarily a US Martial Arms collector so pardon my ingnorance. There are SO many markings/proofs/details/cartouches on the Brit rifles its a study in heiroglyphics....and this rifle is no exception.
The rcvr. is in fact marked S.S.A. as you suspected. Does that imply rarity and thus value?
When you say "of that contract" are you referring to a BSA contract to convert or refurbish rifles for another country?
Anyone have an educated guess on value so I can decide whether to sell it or not?
thanks again

Not sure if it's a good indication of value, but these seem to sell on the auction sites for between &300 and $500. The SSA doesn't really add anything in this case. Yours appears to be in very nice shape.
