Here, in Italy, I payed my M91/30 - still in very good conditions - Euro340.00 I belive it is "a little bit" more than $80.

Wow! You paid $459 US dollars for a rifle that costs (in USA) ~$80. Are all firearms that expensive over there?
I paid $79 for a hex 91/30. Tackdriver! (From J&G JGSales.com) Wasn't hand selected, not a "sniper rifle" with an aftermarket scope. I have seen the "snayperskaya" with am scope for about $459US.
Is yours the sniper model or just the regular 91/30?

Getting a Mosin Nagant 91-30 for $80.00 is not uncommon. My brother just purchased one at a local shop for that price. All matching with prewar stock.

I paid $89 for mine at a dunhams. There awesome rifles and cheap to shoot. And worth every penny in fun.

I just bought one this morning at Dunhams for $79. Sale started on Saturday and I did not learn of it until last evening so I didn't get many to choose from. They had six left, all were WWII manufacture with looser fitting parts and stocks without the metal estrucions in the sling slots. All had barrels that were somewhat rough on the exterior. The one I picked up had a finished receiver that appears to have once belonged to a sniper version as they welded screws into the side of the receiver and ground them down and reblued. Three had matching numbers, three did not. Quality was not what I found at Cabelas three weeks ago but still, not as bad as some I've seen and once I got the grease off of it, it's a nice looking Nagant. Bore looks VERY good, the barrel was well maintained.

Most parts are Izhevsk, a few Tula on the minor parts, but Tula machinery was at the Izhevsk plant by 1942 so that wouldn't be unusual for a "new" rifle. The magazine is a bit of an oddity as it was manufactured prior to 1928 as it has an older Izhevsk mark. I will probably swap it out with the one on my other as it is in near new condition.

These aren't perfect rifles by any means and probably have little if any collector value but I expect they will be fun to shoot and seriously, for $79, where else can you get a deer hunting capable firearm.

My Dunham's rifle keeps getting more interesting. It is apparently a PU sniper rifle that had the screw holes filled in. I read about them on another site. It also has at least part of its bolt assembly with US inspection marks from New England Westinghouse. This being in addition to the pre-1928 magazine. There are stampings and markings all over this one and I haven't really started trying to figure out all of them. The stock is also about an inch and a half shorter than my other one, including the handguard. I've found nothing in my book which explains this. It wasn't the butt that was cut but the fore-end, if they were cut, doesn't look like it was and the metal caps are in place on the handguard.

Shame the bolt isn't the original sniper bolt. The trigger creep on this one is nasty. It's going to take some polishing.

The folks at Dunham's in my area told me they don't know what 91/30 types will come in. Just that they are getting a shipment of a certain quantity. They've seen both round and hex receivers M38 carbines etc. War era and post war stocks as well. So, when I can, I keep checking their inventory. Who knows what you might find.

Dunhams does charge a premium for hex receivers and laminated stocks. About the cheapest you're likely to see them is $119 which really still isn't that expensive. The local one to me had some laminated stocks but no hex receivers.

Here's my 91/30 I bought from a local shop. Its a refurb with all matching pasts except the floorplate of the magazine. Came with all the goodies!

Just got back from the range today and had the chance to shoot my mosin-nagant off a bench for the first time. I was shooting with a Caldwell bag at 50 yards with open sights, using Winchester fmj ammo (I'm trying to accumulate brass I can reload.)

Here's my results.... Pictured is a ten shot group which measured approximately 2 1/4" center to center. The last five shots (after I was really zeroed in) were just over an inch. The shots at the top of the page were my sighters. At fifty yards I had to move my point of aim to the cross marked at the lower part of the page. For open sights with my aging eyes, I'm pretty happy.

I'm planning on working up some light target loads which will improve my point of aim. I know this is no bench rest gun, but for a 1932 Russian workhorse, she looks pretty good to me!

Looks like you have a fine shooting Mosin there. I also lately started reloading for my Mosin/Nagant, but yet have tried any reloads at the range yet.

Aim Surplus has them now for $79 ($89 for hex). Anybody care to comment on whether the ones from Aim are decent or not?
