Sling Story Part 1

I was over at my FFL's house earlier today and we were hanging out in his outside work shed while he showed me some stuff he had acquired for his Boyes rifle. Yes, he just got a real Boyes Anti-Tank gun in beautiful shape. I saw a carbine sling hanging on the wall and I got it down to look at. He said he had got that on a Reising MG. Of course I know the difference in a Reising sling and a carbine sling, so I told him what he had - an excellent C-tip late (OD) M1 icon

Carbine sling. He flipped out when I unsnapped it and showed him the markings. I couldn't make it out but will take good pictures and post in a few days to see if there's agreement on what it is and what the markings say. I mean, you never know what you're going to find or where you might find it. I told him he better get that sling into the house and leave it there! The markings kind of looked like 'H H CO' over '194?'.
