Mexican US Border Conflict 1916
If anybody needs a roster of the 16th Pennsylvania Inf. National Guard Company D, I just got a roster last night at an auction. Individual soldiers...
They were under the command of Col.George C. Richards who later became a General. I believe the 16th became the 28th in WWL and became the "Bloody Bucket" regiment

Cool. By any chance, does it say where they were at that time? There is an old army post, Fort Holland, in west Texas that was built to deter Pancho Villa from raiding the trains near Valentine Tx in 1918 or so. The fort is still there, on private property, and there is a second fort about 10 miles further west. That one is mostly gone though.....chris3

Too bad they didn't put some of those troops & firepower in South Texas near the King Ranch, so that the "Kingenos" (that would be King Ranch cowboys for y'all Nawtheners) wouldn't have had to shoot it out w/Pancho's boys by themselves on the Sarita spread (one of the King Ranch sub-units) back then. Viva Tejas y viva los Kingenos!

I have not had a real chance to research them yet. I know they were the National Guard. Also, this action appears to contribute to the start of WWl.
An intercepted message by the US from Germany
to Mexico about Germany supplying arms to Mexico to help over come the US. We we not going to allow that.....
