Get them bead blasted and parkerized by a gunsmith then paint with Zero-Rust, or some other good black enamel. Over good parkerizing, any decent paint is tough as nails, the paint gets into the crystalline structure of the phosphate coating and 'fills the pores', making a very tough coating. Jut don't put it on too thick, and only one coat of course. Mix it very well, warm the spray can in hot water and heat the part up first to drive out all residual moisture. Bake afterwards if you wish.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. No luck finding Ceramic paint. I have a lead on a product called " Bullet Proof Coating " Semi gloss and very tough. Lot of 4 wheelers use it on frames and such. Jack PS. Went to see about getting these parts done. Their going to gem blast and spray their " Bullet proof Coating " semi gloss black for $10 Can't beat that. If your interested. http://gemblasters.com/bp.html

Below is a 1949 FAZ with South African ownership markings, it was painted with a standard enamel type semi-gloss black paint by the South Africans. The is not a fluke I have three S.A. marked Enfield's a 48, 49 and a 1950 all painted with the same type (Non-Suncorite) paint.

I was cleaning the rifle with Kroil and the paint started to come off, in the photo below the paint is coming off with alcohol.

I think the South Africans got the paint from the Ishapore Rifle Factory and the Ishapore Rifle Factory got the paint from the Australians.

I just touch up my Enfield's up with BBQ black paint and try and stay out of any wars requiring suncorite paint.

Surpmil, Brian is surely in "Rebel" territory, Black Lab's a wee bit more northwest.

Yup, It's the heart of the Confederacy. General Longstreet is buried here. Edgefield, (called "Old Edgefield District" back then), was his home town. We're surely paying the price for his obedience to Lee's orders at Gettysburg!

If it's just bands and small parts that need doing, by all means send them. I blast them and phosphate them too before painting and baking. Spring is finally here, (kinda), meaning the painting season is almost upon us. I've got No.32 and IWS scope brackets to do too.
