Where do all the Military Rifles Go?
With my renewed interest in surplus rifles I got to thinking about where all the old military rifles end up.
I would assume that the vast majority of surviving rifles find their way to the US at some point simply because we have a very large market for them.
But what about the rest. Were they scrapped, are they being kept in stockpiles by the various governments? What percentage still survive in original shootable condition.
How many are still out there. Newest releases in the US seem to be Mosin Nagants from the Ukraine and Swiss
straight pull rifles.

I've heard it said that the Russians and Chinese never throw anything away. After WWII the Russians refurbished most of their captured weapons and the ones we sent them they didn't use and put them in storage. Rumor has it that in the beginning of the Viet Nam war the Viet Nim soon to be known as the Viet Cong were using a lot of K 98's P-38's and other german weapons. I can't say for sure I didn't get there until 1970

A lot of captured German
weapons from Russia
were used by the North Korean and Chinese troops during the Korean war. They also found their way into Viet Nam too. The Mosins and the 98's from central Europe are plentful right now but they will finally dry up too. Lots of ammo from the former Iron Curtain countrys around but for how much longer one can only guess.

Most of the Countries are following UN Guidelines and are destroying their Surplus weapons now. Ukraine is one of the rare countries who are not following these UN Guidelines, that is why you are seeing so much coming out of there.

I really don't have a lot of use for the UN. Just another gang of organised, international criminals, funded by public money.
Get North America out of the UN and the UN out of North America, is my motto.
