Very nice - a strawberry blond (or is it just the lighting ?)
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Alan,
It does have a hint of red in the forestock. Butt is quite a bit darker. Haven't pulled the butt off to see if it is stamped in any way. Not sure if they marked the butts or not.
Thanks

Simon,
Thanks for the kind words.
The No 1 Mk VI was converted to No 4 Mk I configuration and then sporterized.
I will get some pictures up later tonight.

Nice rifle, I tried for an XL39 last year and was outbid unfortunately. Currently I am on a huge dry spell, there just isn't anything super interesting out there that I can find! You are lucky you found all the toys you did!
Only fishy thing I can see on your rifle is the magazine engraving; it is not factory, the "1" are a different font then the factory markings and the "A" is a little wide. Not a biggie but, just in case you missed it.

Nice find Brian. You were lucky I was on a thin spot that month, as I was eyeing that very rifle.
It does sound like you've been on a tear this year. Sometimes it's like that, the tide comes in and the tide goes out. Keep hunting!

Lance,
I am amazed how I can go for what seems like forever without finding anything interesting, and not grossly overpriced, and then all at once it seems there is an interesting find around every corner.
Hadn't noticed the markings on the mag being a bit fishy. Thanks for the feedback. I am going to pull it out and have another look. I wasn't sure if they marked these mags to match the rifle or not. I know it is a 303 mag for single loading. I had considered popping in an original 7.62 mag for the range as I had an extra for my Enforcer clone project.
Anyone else have any pictures of magazine markings from early L39A1s that they can post to shed some light on the subject.
I love this forum!!

Limpetmine,
You have to ride the wave while it lasts because it never seems to last for very long!!
Lucky for the wallet, that the ride doesn't last too long!!
Thanks,
Brian
