Select your loads carefully from well known reloading manuals as others have said. Avoid top pressure and velocity loads, they seldom result in best accuracy. When I load for historic firearms I take into account their long service life firing "maxed-out" issue ammunition. I give the old girls a bit of a gentle hand and down load just a little bit from the published original military ammunition specifications. The reward is that I often get very good accuracy from the rifle and cause a little less wear and tear so that someone after me may enjoy the firearm when I am gone. JMHO
