Du-lite finished barrels...

Anybody have serial number ranges for du-lite/blued finished carbines? Picked up a mid 280,000 range Inland with what appears to be a du-lite/blued finished barrel, dated 2-43.

I had aa later 1950s rebuild with all upgrades that was 100% black park or dulite.

the same as many of the CMP carbines returned from Europe? Most of the ones I've gotten lately have been almost black.

Maybe I should have said blued instead of Du-lite. Anybody have data on blued finishes?

Hollywood: Don't know the answer either, but there is good documentation
on use of Dulite on 1911A1 production by Rem-Rand, Ithaca and US&S. These three used it from May 42 on into mid-late '43. It took awhile for these three to convert to parking even tho the Mil established that parking was to be the standard in Oct 42. I would expect these standards also applied to the rifle industry as well, but this is pure supposition on my part.

Du-Lite is still in business. They sell the black oxide that is used in the hot bluing process. The finish you get depends on the prep work. If you have a mirror-like finish to the steel, then you get a very shiny blued finish when done. If you want a parkerized look, you can bead blast the steel and then run it through the bluing process. It will look virtually the same as a parked finish, the only difference is that a hot process was used to color. I have done several guns with Du-Lite chemicals and done some each way.
