I am a long time collector of US weapons of all types but this is my first mauser. From what I see all parts are matching, I dont think the sling is correct but I do think it was picked up during the war.It has a couple brass buttons that you can remove completely there is a loop mad where it passes thru the butt stock.
I believe today is the first day the rifle has seen daylight in 50 years. There is a couple tiny pits in the barrel but it the rest of it is clean and shiny. The bayonet matches the scabbard. There are two inspection stamps on the stock, waa135 I believe. I am gonna guess it has %70 bluing left.

The stock has a small chunk missing off the corner by the ejection port visible in the bolt picture. The bayonet matches the scabbard it has a couple chips missing from the blade. Looks like 41ffc/ 708 on the reverse. I can't find a marking on the frog.
I plan on keeping it in my collection but I guess the next question is what is it worth with the bayonet and did I pay too much!

Other than the flipped band, does it look ok? Did I do alright at $600? It was just a guess and I had to act fast. I had looked at a few import guns at shows in the $300 range.

Well, if it's all matching and with the bayonet too, I think you did very well ...
