These are quite accurate. Try 10-round groups, from a rest, of various types of ammo at 25 yds.

Try...
...Wolf Match Target. It's some of the best target .22 LR ammunition out there. It's a bit more expensive, but well worth it.
Cabela's currently sells it for $50/brick (500).
I use it in most all my .22's (Colt Woodsman Match Target, S&W Model 41, Kimber 82G Government Target rifle). The ammunition is quite capable of holding groups in the .1" group size at fifty yards.

I agree w/ testing at 50yds, if you have the facilities. It will show much more than 25 yd groups will.
(As I have been known to shoot IHMSA a bit, grouping at 100yds can be important too! Most smallgame hunting I do w/ handguns is 50yd and under, though- critters get too hard to discern whilst focusing on the front sight...)

Re: Woodsman Match Target
My pistol (pictured above) is at Heffrom firearms in Iowa for a new firing pin and tuning. They called today and while inspection of all the parts before re-assembly they found a small crack in the sear. So I have one more small part to replace and then it will be shipped back to me. I will need to find some "target" ammo and see how well this pistols shoots. Can't wait to get it back.
BTW Heffrom firearms has been great in all communications and concerns I had. They seem to be a "straight up" group who know what they are doing.
I am not associated with them but I am impressed with them.
Need some work done on your Colt Woodsman and certain other weapons,

Update: Colt Woodsman Match Target
My pistol is still at Heffron Firearms Classics. My pistol is one of 4 waiting for a "sear". Seems that the sear was a weak link in these pistols and at the moment are a very hard to find part.
Not complaining, just updating. I guess that is the cost of owning a "vintage" pistol parts are sometimes very hard to acquire.

Com'on guys...
...a 1/10 of an inch group at 50 yards with an open sighted pistol as common ?
I'm sorry....not trying to flame....but I just can't wrap my head around that level of performance.
Can someone confirm that I'm that far out of the loop?
Chris

I agree with Kirk. The shop is small but it's amazing what they can come up with.

Heffron Firearms Classics
Hi Jim,
I was wondering if you have heard anything from Heffron since early Sept. He has a H&R Military Mod 12 target 22 rimfire of mine for an accuracy job.
