One thing I wonder is if there are Charger Guide Bridges made for Enfleids that screwed onto a receiver, instead of being forged onto them. I wish I could find one, I want to make this thing take stripper clips, but i dont think one can without the permanently changing the rifle. If it is possible someone please post, i know there were some sort of bolt mounted system which has a half bridge on the right side.

Seconded. You've got a nice original specimen there. If you want a CLLE or a sporter based on one, there are lots of those in the UK
for reasonable prices, some well worn and of no great significance, that you could exercise your skills on without any harm to posterity, so to speak.

PLEASE do not make any alterations to this rifle. It may not be worth a fortune but it is very rare and valuable as piece of history.
If you want a hunting rifle, a truck gun, or just a fun shooter or project gun, there are a MILLION other Lee Enfields out there that are available and have no collector value.
Heck, I would trade a you a No.5 Jungle Carbine that already has a scope mounted (on a swing mount so that you can still use chargers)---this is a bubba classic: flash hider removed, Fajen stock, scope already installed. Ready to go. There are a bazillion such rifles out there. They are fun, they work, they have taken a million deer---but your No.3 Trade Pattern Carbine is NOT one of those.
Just to answer your question: there is no charger bridge that simply screws in. To make something like that would not be cost effective, and would ruin this carbine.
...
P.S. Got your latest group of photos of the butt and nose cap. I'll post them to the forum as soon as I can.
Cheers!

Sorry to alarm everyone, what i was hoping for was to find a charger bridge that would screw in to the existing hole on the tall side of the breech but i then found out most of then, or maybe all of them were brazened on or what not. If they only did this i could swap out my way to most applications.
Im not sure adly however if I could import a single rifle to the USA

Importing?

You're in the USA right? There are plenty of inexpensive Lee Enfields of all types here in the USA, relatively (though not absolutely) safe from the Deactivation Epidemic that afflicts gun populations elsewhere in the world. However, we yanks do have our own problems, including the dreaded Bubba flu, which often strikes a firearm quite suddenly. Although the gun usually survives, it is often changed forever.
In any case, no need to import if you want a CLLE or any other type of Enfield.

I feel bad for the rest of the world and theyre gun laws, though New York is not exactly a fan either. If I were rich I would buy em all up and bring em here to prevent deactivation, we feel it a sin here, sadly however heres a list of the enfields ive seen locals disincluding gunshows:
No 4 Mk 1 Sav
No 4 Mk 1 LB
No 4 Mk 1 Lee (4)
No 2a (2)
Lee-Speed
MLE (choaked and someone else bought it)
P14
and thats it, most of them reside in private collections, unlike mausers and nagants we never get a crate of them. All but two over those I have found homes for either in the family or friends, but Im dying to find another MLE or a CCLE or a Long Lee Metford. Jungle carbines come out to the gunshows once in a while or a No 1 Mk 3.

EnfieldNutt,
There are Long Lee Enfields (and Metfords) available if you are ready to pay the market rate. Same goes for Lee Speeds, CLLEs, NZ
and RIC carbines... all the early, fun stuff, except maybe a Lee Metford MkI (the earliest model)--which are not to be had for any price. For inexpensive SMLE MkIII* and No. 4 models, there are still huge numbers of them in circulation, regardless of whether the crates have stopped arriving from former British
colonies. However, the days of bargains may be over, because price always go up (until another stash is found in Nepal or wherever), but they are still cheap on the scale of firearms generally. And one can get lucky. I bought a Lee Metford last year at a very cheap price at a gun show because the seller needed immediate cash to buy another rifle at the show. So it goes. Have you looked on Gunbroker? I'm sure members of the forum here can help you find whatever you're looking for, without the hassle of importing. If you want a Long Lee or a rare one, someone here can help you find one, but it may not be cheap. For inexpensive shooters and project guns, they are all over the place---start with Gunbroker, or tell us what you want. Jungle carbines are out there too.
I am posting the last batch of pics you sent. I hope other forum members can offer advice.
The nosecap that you removed from the rifle looks to me like the one used on the Short .22 trainers, minus the sling mounts. Very weird. (You can see one at the bottom of this page: http://members.fortunecity.com/enfields/sht22.html, and also here: .22 Enfield's Part 1 - Military Surplus Collectors Forums). Who knows if this nosecap is original to your rifle? The old BSA catalogues don't show them that way. In the meantime, please don't throw it away! (I have to say this, because of a particularly sad story that happened a few years ago where the seller of a rare rifle had replaced what he thought was an incorrect part, and tossed the original, which was of course the correct part.)

Thanks for the posting and info, I have a collection of ziploc baggies filling another larger one full of Enfield parts thats been accumulating, so no worries on a loss of the part. The buttdisc I picked up a while ago seperately but it fit in the disc cut-out and the plain re-pro i got is too big (go figure), I guess one thing i am curious to is if this rifle will accept a 10 round magazine from a long lee or a different model from that time, no 4 mags definitely dont fit but im thinking the early 303 mags might.
