    up until 1942, Germanicon 98ks had their serial number stamped on the underside of the butt stock and, depending on manufacturer, in the barrel channel. from '43 on they switched to only putting the serial number in the barrel channel.

    a non matching stock doesn't significantly decrease the value of an all matching rifle, but it won't go for the same as a completely matching rifle
