I appreciate the responses and was glad that my opinion reflected what all of you are saying. Some of the guys I was discussing this with tried to tell me that to restore a rifle you have to make it original, in this case a '42 Savage. I tried to explain that restoring an FTR'd rifle would be putting it back into the condition of the FTR date, not original manufactured date.
