Found Grandfathers old Korean war rifle Lee enfield Sht lll* 1918

I have found my granfathers old rifle from the korean war. It is a BSA (Birmingham small arms Company) manufactured Lee Enfield cartridge rifle with a crown and King George's GR mark. It has the year 1918 and "lll*" also on it. I have the cartiridge, a few rounds and the bayonet for it. I'm not sure I want to sell it but if I did does anyone know how much it would be worth? it is in OK condition for being 92 years old. some of the wood is cracking, and someone put zip ties around in to reinforce the barrel. I have pic's and can share them.. thanks in advance

My name is Tony and i'm from Wichita, Kansas.

I only recently got into shooting (in the last year or so) and my first gun was a Russianicon m44 Mosin Nagant Carbine. It turned out to be so fun and interesting i went gun crazy and have been collecting pretty rapidly ever since. My second purchase was a 1940 Turk Gew 98 Mauser, then a 1917 R.S.A.F. Enfield No 1 Mk.III, a 1945 Russian-Capture K98icon, and a 1915 Carl Gustafs M96 Swede Mauser... unfortunately i have no plans on stopping anytime soon either, haha.

i've never really been involved with a forum of any sort before, but i was impressed by the caliber (ba dum, ching!) of knowledge here and decided to join and give my 2 cents.

    Hi everyone,
Just joined this wonderful forum. I've always been interested in milsurp guns, incidently my first rifle was an unmodified 1917 Rem in .30-06 (a very accurate & reliable gun). It's so fascinating handling these true pieces of art K98icon, SMLE, Kragicon & likes.

    First Post

I am not really a "new" member, I used to use the old Culvericon's Shooting Pages site a lot, but I am fairly new here on the Collectors' board, so I decided to finally check in & introduce myself.

I started my collection about 20 years ago and it's been all uphill for me since. I know less than some folks about firearms, more than some others...but I try to learn & have fun with my hobby and not be overbearing about it. Oh yeah, I am a Moderator on GlockTalk.com.

    Cheers,
    thisaway

    Hi, Guys!

This machine says that I'm supposed to post something, so here goes: SOMETHING.

There; we have that out of the way.

I'm no longer youthful, have no money, but I like to mess about with old guns, especially when I can do it on the cheap. Recently, I have become an official Old Fart and have a genuine Government of Canadaicon Plastic Card to tell me what my name is when I forget it. They also send me money every month as a reward for not dying. I think I'm going to try to keep this up for a long time!

I am (marginally) sane, I'm the nicest guy I know and I worked for a long time as a journalist, a teacher and a bunch of other things. I have a big hammer and a roll of baling-wire, so I can fix Harleys, too! My faults (and they are few, of course, being that I'm writing this up) include an insatiable addiction to Ross Rifles, an unconquerable love for the old SMLE and a general interest in anything that might have been used in the Great War or earlier.

I live in a small town in Manitoba, exactly halfway between Winnipeg and Regina: lots of flat land for trying things out. My best friend seems to be a 2100-year-old Egyptian wizard who drinks too much; I have written two very long novels of his adventures in the last couple of years and, right now, I am chasing out information for his next two adventures, one in 1066 and the other in 1918. It's fun.

Anyone sending a message will be answered, although it might take time: I might be stranded on a Viking ship again (the reason I wasn't here for a long time).

Take care, all, and happy collecting!

And, once again, I will post something: SOMETHING.

Have fun! That's what it's all about!

  12. Thank You to smellie For This Useful Post:
