As Gunner said, 5.4mm is .22 caliber. Some of mine are marked both .22 lfb and 5.4mm. The rifle you are bidding on, if it is a kkw will also have .22 Lang fur buchsen (sorry no umlaut) on the left side of the barrel. It is also possible that the rifle is chambered for something other than .22 long rifle (short, long, etc.).

The nominal caliber is 5.6mm, or .22. The bore measured 5.4mm, as indicated by the barrel markings. Lead .22 cal bullets seem to be identified as '5.6' and jacketed ones as '5.56'. The rifles are chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge, if they say "Kal .22 lang fur Buchen" on the barrel.

Yes Tom that is correct. Have an look at the markings and if you`re not sure it is always good to measure the bore diameter. The lead bullets are normaly the better ones in this rifles.

I've got one that is only marked 5.4mm that I shoot .22lr through. Doesn't seem to be a problem.

I bought a GECO at a garage sale the other day...perfect, 1" at 50 yards with cheap 22lr. I need a cleaning rod or at least the rod diameter and thread size so I can have my gunsmith make a replacement. Looks just like the pics from Wiacaceti. Oh, it even had the original sling...........

Hello all!
I am brand new here, and I am more of an old car guy and not really much of a shooter, although when I went through a one year officer training program in the Norwegian icon

army in 1958-59, I got to fire quite a few different weapons ranging in caliber from .22 to 155 mm and a lot in between.
I found this forum when searching for information on the 5,4 mm rimfire.
Gunner mentioned several manufacturers of these rifles, but did not mention mine. Mine is also marked "Deutches Sportmodell" on the right side. On the left side it gives the manufacturer as "Waffenfab. Aug. Menz Suhl".
I have previously done a search on this manufacturer, but it only came up with small caliber hand gun information, and not much of that either.
I have had this rifle for a long time, and my question was the same as other people had; can I safely fire .22LR ammo with this?
Seems like the consensus is "YES"!
Any comments welcome.
