I am seeing some minty MRT75 dated cheekpads on fleebay is there any chance these could actually be repros that are being passed off as original? Are there any obvious ways to spot reproduction cheekpads just from looking at posted pics

Bill, that's just like the one that came with my 1997 lottery M1D. Only as I mentioned on the CMP forum, my cheek piece is umarked. The arsenal issued rifle is Ep'd dated 1969 on one of the receiver legs and scope bag is dated 1969 also.

I see the seller is in France. I'll bet these cheek pieces are some of the Greek M1D rifle accessaries that made their way into the civilian market. Apparently from what I understand, the rifles were returned but most of the scopes and other accessaries were not and were sold on the market, Ray

are the 75 dated ones less desirable then a 50s dated one

The company also had several contracts for bandoleers earlier under the name Kings Point Industries.

Could these late cheek pads also have been used with the M14/M21 rifle?

No. The Garand cheek pads are offset because the scopes were mounted offset, to the side of the rifle. The M14 scopes were mounted near the center of the bore. One would not be able to view the scope on an M14 if the Garand cheek pad was used during aiming.
