Maybe when I was 5 or 6 years old...

That would be a great way to break in my grandson, but it is more than an Erma 22 M1
Carbine!

That was my first carbine, but mine was the later version with the plastic stock. Heck, I think it's still kicking around somewhere.
The price seems right--I saw one recently at a gun show for $150 with the wooden stock.

And it still has it's magazine, those are usually missing...

It would be fun to have. But the buy it now and delivery of $318 seems like a bit too much fun for me.

I always wanted one and begged my parents when they first came out. I had a Daisy, and they said that was good enough.

Daisy Red Ryder, and it was good enough for me at 6 years old in 1955.
I was too young to know anything about WW2 guns. They made that M1
Carbine BB gun to intice my Dad, not me.

When I was 6 (in 1958) I got my oldest brothers original Red Ryder BB gun. When I was about 9 or 10, I saved allowances and bought a Daisy 99 lever action with a wood beaver tail forend and stock, and target sights. It looked like this : http://cdn3.ioffer.com/img/item/141/...TFgrX4b5E1.jpg
It was accurate. I set up toy soldiers in the garden and played sniper with it from my upstairs bedroom window! If you want to cry, I actually had a "C tip" carbine sling on it that I got from a surplus store for a buck...
