What's the next Surplus Rifle?

My Chinese SKS are the most accurate I own. And they are parts rifles. The Chinese version of the Mosin Nagant M44 is equal to any of the M44s out there. I need one of those too. Alot of 1917 Enfields went to the Chinese during WW2. I would like to see some of them come back over here. The Chinese made version of the 1911 is one of the better clones made. However, they are not imported any longer.....chris3

I here one of the U.S. distributors is handling a batch of South Korean M1 Garands, I don't know what condition there in, I have all the M1's I need-SDH

Korea also has M1 carbines and 1928 Thompsons along with everything else US from that time period. Maybe even aircraft and armor.
There was a rumor about a lot of British, Canadian and Australian stuff left behind as well.
The US also supplied them with a bunch of Arisakas, with ground crests and converted to 30-06. Supposedly, they still have them. Don't forget all of the captured com bloc stuff they gathered as well.
Other than British, US, surplus Japanese and captured com bloc stuff, there is a good possibility that there is a lot of Eurpean stuff stashed away as well.

With the former E-Bloc guns its not about the quality, much like the Jap guns its about the variety! There are close to 300 variations and counting, Many of these are quite rare and expensive. I don't believe we are running out of milsurps, I think more people are getting into them making the availability a little more competitive.-SDH

I heard that Russia has a lot of G43 rifles stored. Maybe someday they will be released like the Russian captured K98 rifles were.
Rumor has it though that they are asking too much money for them currently to be profitable for US companies to import them and sell them. I don't know about that as those rifles have gone up a lot in value here lately and just the parts would be big business. Maybe Russian law is preventing exportation. Ray

The old Chinese/Japanese/US Lend Lease guns were imported from China 20 years ago, I doubt anything of that kind is left in Armories now. Omega in Arizona has the dregs of those Imports rusting away in their Warehouse, a friend has viewed the stuff in Arizona and there is nothing really worth buying (Junk M53/44 Mosin-Nagants and Chiang Kai Chek Mausers and Mauser 1896 pistols).

Hi Jean, I was referring to the stuff left behind in South Korea. Rumor has it that they have warehouses full of the stuff from many different nations. It may be just that though rumor.
I was hoping the rumor might be true, when South Korea announced they would be selling off a bunch of M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, M28 Thompsons and 1911s. I was hoping that the other stuff, left behind by other participating nations might be up for release as well.

Vietnam, still has, again rumors, quite a bit of stuff in storage. I also hear it's been poorly stored and maintained. The US, left a bit of everything they had there. Don't forget the French, Japanese and Germans.

I recently watched a movie about Viet Nam. It was filmed there and was obviously edited by the communists. It was a story about a couple of lovers that had been thwarted by French overlords. There were a lot of neat rifles and handguns in the movie. French, German, Japanese and Russian. They spanned quite a time period as well. Not a great story line and sub titled but the weapons used were educational if nothing else. One interesting thing, many of the rifles, entrusted to the Vietmamese were black powder versions, single shots that looked like old Muratas.

I hate to shift gears in mid stream, so I'll most likely be getting another Mosin, but, no more doubles! I finally weeded out most seconds, and am focusing on none recent imports, MO's, Finns, Dragoon conversions by the year and sniper rigs, M91's and will consider other models if they call me load enough! I'm running out of space, so am considering, moving out the family! SDH
